Spaces for art in Oslo: Prosjekt i Gamlebyen – PiG (1994) revisited

8. april kl 09-18
Sted: Oslo Ladegård
Oslo gate 13, 0192 Oslo

The first event of Munchmuseet’s new project ‘Munchmuseet on the Move (2016-2019)’ is a conference, in collaboration with Kunsthall Oslo.

The conference looks at the artist-initiated ‘Prosjekt i Gamlebyen (PiG)’, which included over 80 artists’ commissions across Oslo’s Old Town; a publication of poems, novels, and essays; and a series of concerts at the now-demolished building, Borgen. This all took place over a ten-day period, from 26 May to 5 June 1994. The programme of art projects was curated by Harald Fetveit, Ketil Nergaard, and Christel Sverre, and Per Platou organized the musical events. The conference on 8 April 2016 revisits PiG and Borgen, and contextualises the projects historically, internationally, and in a contemporary landscape of art in public space in Oslo.

The conference is free with registration, and will be held in English. Registration: http://app.emarketeer.com/ext/form/entry.php?m=217670aae9d4049ef551b97eafbd01bfdcb692b&Origin=Direct
